Burst of Curiosity: A Curated Dive into Innovation & Sustainability
What's keeping me entertained these days?
Last week, I was all in. Wrapping up and submitting my research on how digital nomads feel about their impact on local communities. It was a heck of a week chasing deadlines, so much so, that I'm going with a shorter format this time.
So, what's going on? Well, I'm going for a shorter, different format, a sort of curiosity roundup. I'll be sharing a list of stuff that's been capturing my attention over the past weeks. 6 blogs, and papers — all things that in their own ways add a little something to our understanding of innovation and sustainability in the realm of tourism.
And just a heads-up for the coming weeks: I'm all set to turn my research into a series. I'll break it down into bite-sized pieces and publish them here, each delivering its own message in a plain, easy-to-understand way.
Here’s a quick burst:

Cities start playing B2C games and that changes their way of operating.
Digital Nomads Are the New Gentrifiers
“A nomad isn’t the problem,” Dr Taylor argues. “The problem is neoliberal capitalism and the way it operates.''
When digital nomads come to town
Governments are happy, locals not so much.

‘‘Contemporary tourism in the name of volunteer tourism exerts power and exploits the Orient as the West’s pleasure periphery.’’
Looking forward to next week when we’ll start diving deeper into digital nomads and their impacts on local communities.
